During his over 20-year career with NRC, he also served as Vice President and General Counsel, overseeing sales and marketing, client services, administration, and legal affairs.
With extensive experience in OPA 90 compliance issues, Mr. Candito has a particular focus on matters related to vessel owners and insurance. Prior to his tenure at NRC, he worked as an attorney specializing in maritime litigation and environmental law at Haight Gardner Poor & Havens from 1985 to 1993. Additionally, he served as a marine engineer aboard Exxon USA’s domestic tanker fleet from 1980 to 1985.
Mr. Candito holds a degree from Hofstra University School of Law and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He is admitted to practice law in New York and the U.S. Federal Courts. Furthermore, he has served as the President of the Spill Control Association of America (SCAA), the leading U.S. trade association for the oil spill response industry. He is actively involved in various NRC related entities and serves on their Boards of Directors.
